Solution 2: Press and hold the Power button.Next, locate and select Finder, then click Relaunch. To do this, press and hold Command+Option+Escon your keyboard to open the Force Quit Applications dialog box. You may need to click More Details at the bottom of the window to see the Processes tab. Next, locate and select Windows Explorer from the Processes tab and click Restart. To do this, press and hold Ctrl+Alt+Delete on your keyboard to open the Task Manager. (Windows only): Restart Windows Explorer.You can then select the unresponsive application and click End task (or Force Quit on a Mac) to close it. On a Mac, press and hold Command+Option+Esc.
On a PC, you can press (and hold) Ctrl+Alt+Delete (the Control, Alt, and Delete keys) on your keyboard to open the Task Manager.
Solution 1: Force quit the application. When this happens, you won't be able to close the window or click any buttons within the application. In the list of temporary files, select all by pressing Ctrl + A and delete them.Sometimes an application may become stuck, or frozen. Type “temp” in the box and press Enter.ģ. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.Ģ. These files can cause problems with the way Windows functions.ġ. Having a large amount of temporary or cache files can take up valuable memory. Once you’ve installed these updates, reboot and try your computer again to see if Windows continues to freeze. To see if your machine needs that update, press Win + I to access the settings, then click “Update & Security.” Any upgrades or bug fixes your computer requires will be listed here. Sometimes Windows itself will need an update. Run this first to make sure it isn’t malware causing the issue. If Windows Defender didn’t detect anything, consider using another antivirus software such as Kaspersky, Norton, or Avast to double-check. 
If your computer is having problems, it is always a good plan to first run a scan for viruses.
